It’s been about 3 years since the first Fender G-Dec guitar amplifier came about and now G-DEC 3 has come up with some much awaited features such as USB connection and SD card for data transfer direct to your computer. Just announced in NAMM 2010 from PRS is the SE Torero. It is a PRS double cut with …. a Floyd Rose!! and EMG 81 and 85 pickups. Comes in red cherry or gray black. Oops, I did it again! No, I didn’t do a Britney. I have re-installed the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded pickups. After months of missing that tone, I replaced my old pickups with these pups on my Onyx Les Paul copy. And the results, pure tonal bliss. The bridge is really sharp and crisp while the neck pickup is warm and ‘Jazzy’. Incidentally, I found out that I actually had DiMarzio pickups. Interesting. If you haven’t heard, the P-rails are pickups from Seymour Duncan which has P-90, rails and humbucker (series or parallel). I installed it early this year, I was impressed that I could get different sounds from it. However, there were a few problems I noticed which were, putting the volume to zero still produced sound and the P-90 sounded a lot like humbucker. I am pretty sure this was due to either my wiring or the push-pull (cos I think I had solder dripping into the pot/potentiometer). Also, it didn’t sound... [Read the full story]
